Gene Simmons has no friends and hates “hanging out” | DayDayNews Entertainment

Gene Simmons has no “friends” and prefers his own company.

The KISS rocker said he was closest to band member Paul Stanley, who only got together when the band had something to do.

“Even today, when I’m sitting here, apart from Paul, we only get together when we’re doing things for the band,” he told Goldmine.

“How can I say that without being inhuman?

“I have no friends.

“Yeah, if the friend means, ‘Oops, I don’t know what I’m going to do this afternoon. Hey, do you want to come over and hang out?’

“I’m more interested in what I want to do, and I don’t want to because I don’t pretend to be interested in what you want to do.”

Meanwhile, Paul previously shared how he thinks KISS could go on without him and Gene.

The ‘Detroit Rock City’ rock band is on their ‘End of the Road’ farewell tour, with founding members Paul and Gene now joined by Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer, who replaced Ace Frehley and Peter Criss respectively.

He weighed the future of the band once the last two original members retired, saying, “I don’t think recasting KISS or KISS 2.0 is something we’ve ever talked about.

“Can KISS continue? Can it grow without us? Well, yes, because it’s already 50 percent.

“In other words, someone once said, ‘Well, it can only be the original four.’ [And then] It’s, “Well, it can only be the original three.” Well, things went on, and things changed. “

He admits that despite his confidence in his abilities, the group is “bigger than any member” and he doesn’t rule out future iterations of different lineups.

He explained: “Can I see KISS growing with different people? Yes.

“As much as I’m a huge fan of what I do – and I think I’m pretty awesome – there are other people around who can take the torch and bring something to philosophy, live performance and music. It’s going to be the kiss. It It won’t be KISS 2.0.

“If it does happen, yes, it’s really just a continuation of the philosophy we’ve always had, which is that KISS is bigger than any member.”

However, Ace, who first left the band in 1982 and then returned again between 1996 and 2002, has previously attacked the idea.

He argued: “They were trying to explain to the fans, ‘Well, you know, we replaced Peter, we replaced Ace, and ultimately we are going to replace ourselves.

“It’s like Mick Jagger saying, ‘Yeah, after me and Keith [Richards], dead, the Rolling Stones will continue with two other people. I mean, it’s a joke. “
