Getting Inspiration and Learning From Jenifer Segalowitz, Owner of MUKBANG SHOWS RESTAURANT

The food and beverages industry is growing exceptionally nowadays. With the rise of popularity of the F&B industry, you would also have noticed the Mukbang videos. While looking for something unique in the UAE, we came across MUKBANG SHOWS RESTAURANT BBQ & SEAFOOD. The concept of the restaurant is exceptional. That’s why we decided to interview Jenifer Segalowitz, the owner of MUKBANG SHOWS RESTAURANT BBQ & SEAFOOD.

She is an inspirational entrepreneur with a passion for work. We loved how she is a hard-working woman who never let others or her challenges let her down. During our interview, Jenifer Segalowitz told us about her career journey. She told us how she used to live in a slum area in the Philippines and had to collect and sell garbage for a living. However, now, she is truly an inspiration to all the aspiring entrepreneurs out there.

Explain the background of you and the company in detail.

I am Jenifer Segalowitz, born and raised in the Philippines. I am a Filipina businesswoman who came from the slum area back home. There, I had to collect and sell garbage just to survive and support my studies. Fast forward to now, I am a successful entrepreneur in one of the top rich countries, UAE.

My experience, hard work, faith, and ambition helped to achieve my goals. In addition, my loving American husband (an IT expert) has supported me the most.

We create a very in-demand business and fulfill requirements as per the market.

Being a detailed oriented, passionate and deep market knowledge for almost 20 years in UAE, we established MUKBANG SHOWS RESTAURANT BBQ & SEAFOOD.

We have a team of well-experienced Korean chefs with 15 years in the field. We at MUKBANG SHOWS RESTAURANT are keen to deliver Authentic Korean Cuisine, Korean Vibes, Korean Culture, and eating shows which are famous worldwide MUKBANGERS.

Would you tell us something about MUKBANG?

As the name suggests, these videos involve people sitting in front of the camera and binge-eating food and drinks. MUKBANG video has become a global trend since 2010, with its videos getting close to 350 million views on YouTube in the first quarter of 2018.

What are your goals?

If you have a goal and dream, prove to the world that there’s no hindrance in becoming a successful entrepreneur, irrespective of where you came from.

In addition, we also aim to be people’s number one choice in Authentic Korean cuisine in GCC.

We are very thankful that the UAE government is one of the top countries in the world, so we can turn our dreams into reality and set a perfect example for the rest of the world to follow.

What do you feel is the biggest strength of yourself/company right now?

As a person, my biggest strength is my motivation and dream to turn from no one into a businesswoman through my experience and strategy in life.

MUKBANG itself is a very marketable brand and easy to connect with individuals, social media, bloggers, and marketing specialists.

What was the path you/your company took to get to where you are today?

Focus and handwork to achieve goals and establish more Mukbang branches in GCC

Why did you start this company?

As we are food lovers and MUKBANGERS, we started what we love. As the saying goes, choose a career path that you love and will never work in your life.

What have been the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome?

As a first-time entrepreneur, to establish and start a business was very challenging.  From deciding on the colour motifs, designs, food selections and budgeting, it was difficult.  But because of my passion and inspiration from my loved ones, everything fell into place and all the hard work paid off.

But the challenges do not stop there, the competition in the market and to sustain and expand the operation without compromising the quality of food and service we offered is our major concern.

Another hurdle is that I am a Filipina who ventured into a business dominated by the opposite sex and offered a cuisine that is far from my nationality, I must prove myself.

What do you value most about your culture and vision?

We value connecting with people and fulfilling their requirements.

What are your company’s strategies, and how do they stand unique from your competitors?

We focus on the needs of our clients. We implement the marketing strategy based on those needs to ensure we apply the best practices.

What are the key values which helped you to overcome the roadblocks/challenges in your career? Tell us something about your memorable incident in your leadership?

I value loyalty and faith to overcome all challenges. Getting the right people to help me with my journey in life. With my family beside me and their support, nothing is impossible in life.

Where is your leadership going? What benefits do your clients get from your company in this competitive world?

Leadership is a word that runs in my vein, and just leading by example makes the organization strive.

We serve all our clients like kings and queens. They are the life and blood of our company, and we value our clients the most.

How do you contribute to our society and community as a person and company as a whole?

As we are succeeding in all aspect of business. I always put my faith and my pledge to help my country men specially who is in need. Our goal and mission as a company.

We have various programs like feeding program, bringing youth back to school, building churches and contributing to those who are in need specially the tribes in Palawan.

What are your company’s services/solutions or products on par with the current industry standards? Tell us something about your upcoming products or services?

We at MUKBANG are very proud of our culture and vision. We are serving authentic Korean cuisine and the best-unlimited BBQ in GCC.

Upcoming branches will soon open next month ELEKTRA BRANCH ABU DHABI. And 4 branches in DUBAI. We are targeting to put the brand in all GCC. In addition, we are already accepting Investors and franchise inquiries.
