GNTB focuses on sustainable inbound tourism for ATMs

[ad_1]

The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) presents the latest campaign of its vision to “make tourism more sustainable” to GCC tourism professionals at the Arab Travel Market (ATM) 2023.

Under the motto “Germany, Simple and Inspiring”, GNTB focuses on sustainable aspects in several tourism sectors, including:

Embracing German nature, highlighting natural landscapes and active holidays; Historic modern Germany, promoting cultural heritage and 51 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, focusing on traditions and customs in rural areas. Third, their Feel Good – Sustainable Travel in Germany campaign emphasizes how to enjoy an environmentally friendly holiday in Germany.

“Our aim is to make a meaningful contribution to climate change mitigation, support Germany’s commitment to net-zero emissions and drive an increasing number of environmentally conscious GCC inbound tourists,” said the German National Tourism GCC Office (GNTO GCC) Director Yamina Sofo), which is part of the German National Tourist Board (GNTB).

“We want to present Germany as a year-round travel destination that is not only sustainable, but also diverse, accessible, inclusive, resilient and future-proof,” she added.

The GCC region is now Germany’s best-performing inbound source market in Asia and Oceania, with 404,707 GCC guests generating nearly 1.13 overnight stays in 2022, an increase of 117.6% compared to the same period in 2021.

“These figures confirm that Germany remains the top destination for GCC tourists, for whom an unspoiled natural environment and careful use of resources are clearly becoming more and more important. We also want to encourage longer stays, to reduce the carbon footprint of each travel day,” Sofo said.

With more than 350 spa and health resorts in Germany, GNTB focuses on sustainability-related aspects of wellness tourism. These include examples of conservation of traditional treatments, site-specific treatments and remediation as drivers of regional prosperity, and sustainable energy management.

There is also growing interest in low-impact tourism that supports climate goals and makes tourism more resilient. More than a third of Germany’s land area is specially protected as nature parks or national parks, with around 200,000 kilometers of walking paths and 70,000 kilometers of long-distance cycling paths. There is also a resurgence of interest in traditional ways of life in rural areas, which further strengthens Germany’s image as a sustainable tourism destination.

Furthermore, with 51 World Heritage Sites and more than 6,000 museums, Germany offers a wealth of interesting places of cultural and historical significance.

GNTB’s focus on sustainability creates synergies with ATM 2023’s official theme – “Towards Net Zero”. Additionally, with Dubai set to host this year’s COP28, outbound tour operators and travel agencies will no doubt have sustainable tourism at the top of their agenda.

Exhibitors at the German stand this year include Baden-Baden Tourism, Düsseldorf Airport, Düsseldorf Tourism, Elinor Travel Germany, Frankfurt Airport VIP Service, Frankfurt Tourism, Hommage Luxury Hotels Collection, Hotel Palace Berlin, Ingolstadt Village and Wertheim Village, International Office am Klinikum Solingen GmbH, The Wellem – part of the unbound collection of Hyatt, Wiesbaden Tourist Office and visitBerlin.

Arab Travel Fair 2023 will be held from May 1st to 4th with the German stand at the European Pavilion stand EU1635. – trade arab news agency
