Government of Lima to host entertainment district meeting

LIMA — Lima’s municipal leadership wants to give people more reasons to visit the city center, and on Tuesday, community members will have the opportunity to learn more about one way the city hopes to make that happen.

An information session, scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Lima Municipal Building at City Plaza 50, will provide information on the Downtown Community Recreation District, which runs north along Main Street from Grande Avenue to 4th The street extends southward to include portions of Market Street from Metcalf Street to near Jackson Street, and portions of North and Spring Streets.

“The CED is an important economic development tool that will be used to continue to enrich the downtown area,” said Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith. “With all the amazing things happening in downtown Lima in the coming months, we believe the CED will continue to stimulate new growth and increase opportunities for area businesses.”

The meeting will include information for interested businesses on how to apply for permits, with representatives of the Lima Police Department discussing keeping the area safe, and representatives of the Lima City Council outlining the process for obtaining these permits.
