GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) — Preparations are underway for the grand opening of Greenville’s new entertainment district next to the flour mill.
“This is really going to be a transformational project, not just for the drive or the flour farm, but for the entire West End,” said Jeff Brown, community coordinator for Greenville Drive.
It’s been two years in the making, but District 356 is ready to play.
To baseball fans, it might look a little familiar.
“We designed the street after Fenway Park’s Jersey Street outside Boston Field,” Brown said.
The city said the goal is to bring more energy to the game on Greenville Avenue.
“If you think about live music, food trucks and street games and the performers that really kick-start the baseball game, it’s like an entertainment district,” Brown said.
The city said the development of the West Side started with the addition of flour mills a few years ago, and District 356 just made it better.
“Converting Field Street into another venue for party pregame events, adding additional restrooms, infrastructure and gathering areas, all are just part of a partnership between the city and The Drive,” said Greenville spokeswoman Beth Broadton said.
The team will be holding a ribbon-cutting event on Wednesday, and they hope the Northern Territory will join them in celebrating the city’s exciting time.
“We’ll be activating the streets with inflatables, games, music and lights, so the community should come out tomorrow night, our Green Day celebration, and Greenville’s annual birthday party that night during the driving race,” Brown said. Say.
The ribbon cutting is scheduled for Wednesday at 6pm, but the team says you may want to be there around 5.30pm looking for a parking space.
