Guenther Steiner enjoyed watching Toto Wolff ‘nearly have a heart attack’ during 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner is the latest to rule on a huge controversy at the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. After some highly controversial decisions by the stewards, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won his final race of the season in Abu Dhabi, beating Lewis Hamilton to claim his first title.

The results of the race have created such a polarizing and toxic environment among rival F1 fans that there have been some dramatic changes in personnel between managers and race control. Among the most significant changes is the departure of former F1 race director Michael Masi.

‘I’m too busy focusing on the Russians’: Guenther Steiner on 2021 Abu Dhabi GP controversy

Ghent Steiner It was revealed in his book that he was too busy focusing on his team during the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that he was okay with the controversy that occurred. “I was too busy focusing on a Russian who didn’t finish and a German who finished 14th,” he explained (quoted in mirror movement).

However, he did admit that the instructions given by the race director were “very confusing”. “I remember sitting on the pit wall listening to the race director’s orders and thinking, ‘What the hell is going on here,'” he added.

After ruling on the controversy, Steiner hilariously admitted it was “interesting” for him to see “poor” Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff “almost have a heart attack” nonetheless. He then ended his remarks by saying this was a past event so everyone has to move on.

Haas off to good start for 2023 season

Guenther Steiner will be relieved that the Haas are off to a good start to the 2023 season. Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg have both scored for the team so far.

After both drivers failed to score points in the season opener in Bahrain, Kevin Magnussen finally scored the first point for Haas in Saudi Arabia with a 10th place finish. Nico Hulkenberg carried that momentum into the next race in Australia, finishing a fantastic seventh to take six points for the team.

Haas’ seven points so far this season put them seventh in the standings, one point behind Alpine and five behind fifth-placed McLaren.
