Heatstroke unlikely, but Kashif Daud remains wary of UAE challenges in Scotland

[ad_1]

heat wave All are relative.before the game starts Cricket World Cup League 2 Triple Series The UK has been enjoying record-breaking weather in Aberdeen, in the far northeast of Scotland.

When the UAE starts its campaign against the hosts from Scotland on Wednesday, paramedics will be on call in case any member of the crowd suffers from heat stroke.

However, with temperatures reaching a sweltering 25 degrees for the final practice session at Manorfield on Tuesday, many Tour players trained in sweaters and tracksuit tops.

After all, it was 20 degrees cooler than they were used to before heading to Scotland for the series.

Aberdeen is the northernmost point for the UAE to compete in international cricket. Wake up to single-digit temperatures and go out and hit the ball with real green grass that’s unfamiliar to most players.

However, not all. Kashif Daud, UAE all-rounderplayed a season as an overseas professional in Scotland in 2015 before moving to Dubai as a coach.

His club, Farooqi CC, is in Perth, about 90 minutes’ drive from Aberdeen – although he has never played there.

Daud said he was happy to be back in the country where he had envisioned his future.

“Staying here and trying to qualify for Scotland is very different for the UAE,” Daud said.

“In Dubai you can easily get a work visa, it’s hard to get an indefinite visa here, so playing for Scotland is going to be a long process.

“I’m used to it being easy to acclimate, but the weather conditions in Dubai are very hot compared to Scotland. It feels like good weather for us.”

Over the next six days, the UAE will have two one-day international matches against the United States and Scotland, and Daud is wary of the challenge ahead.

“If there’s some help for the fast bowlers, you still need to pitch in the right lane to get some help from the wicket,” Daud said.

“If your bowling is too short, you’ll get hit. Scotland and the US are both very balanced sides.

“I am very surprised with the US because they have built a strong side recently. In the future, they will be a very good side.

“I know Scotland has been involved in cricket for a long time. England and Scotland are the home of cricket.

“If you talk to any Scottish players, they will give you a proper understanding of the game. Scotland and the United States have a very bright future in the game.”

After the Scottish Tour, the UAE will have a one-day layover in Dubai before heading to Muscat for an Asian Cup qualifier.

Prizes for that game with fixtures Against India and Pakistan ahead of Australia’s T20 World Cup.

“This is a great opportunity for us to showcase our talent,” Daud said.

“I am fortunate to be I am very old in UAE. A lot of my friends come back to Pakistan and they still represent their state but don’t have the opportunity to represent their country.

“I am very fortunate to come to Dubai and represent the UAE at an international level. It is a big honour for me. Dubai is my home now.

“For my age, I feel like if you work hard and put in the effort, you’ll be successful.”

Daud’s new ball partner Junaid Siddiq It is an injury doubt for the Scottish game.

The Tour’s attacking leader is thought to have a 50 per cent chance of playing after suffering an ankle injury in the second of two warm-up matches at the Emirates in Dundee.

The national team won one and lost one in two practice matches after arriving to acclimatize a week before the first ODI.
