Europe: As Europe’s F-gas phase-down continues to be affected, prices for high-GWP refrigerants in the EU are reported to have increased sharply.
According to Öko-Recherche’s data for the first quarter of this year, the prices of the higher GWP refrigerants R410A, R404A and R134a increased by an average of 75%, 67% and 48% across the supply chain, respectively, compared to the first quarter of last year.
The prices of R134a and R410A in the EU are in stark contrast to the world market, where the price of R134a remained unchanged, while the price of R410A decreased.
Alternatives such as HFC/HFO hybrid solutions saw price increases at the distributor level from the previous quarter. For the R404A substitutes R448A and R449A, the prices increased by 17% and 11%, respectively.
Slight changes in quota authorization prices have been reported, with some early indications of average prices ranging from €14.8/tCO2e to €16/tCO2e, averaging around €15.5/tCO2e.
