Hilton Wins First Sustainable Stand Award at ATM

[ad_1]

Hilton has won the inaugural Sustainable Stand Award at the 30th Arabian Travel Market (ATM), which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) on May 4.

The hospitality brand was praised by the show’s independent jury for its decision to hire a local supplier to create its stand and its commitment to re-use as much material as possible over the next three years.

To support its eco-responsible approach to booth design, Hilton is using a carbon calculator to measure its environmental footprint and has taken steps to mitigate the impact of food and beverage events throughout the show in line with the company’s long-term sustainability goals.

The ATM judge also offered his condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of former Hilton Middle East, Africa and Turkey president Jochem-Jan Sleiffer who passed away last week.

In addition to Hilton, the ATM 2023 Best of Show Awards judges also praised the sustainability efforts of many other exhibitors. The panel praised the AlUla Royal Commission for paying close attention to sustainable materials used in its stand design, and praised Switzerland Tourism for its “sustainability wall” and reusable modular system.

For the second year in a row, Saudia was chosen by the judges in the Best Stand Design Award (over 150 sqm) category. The kingdom’s flag carrier has been praised for its effective use of digital screens and reflective floors, which the panel said created a real “wow factor”.

Best Booth Design (under 150 sqm) went to Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc with a display inspired by the hometown of global superstar Rhianna. The ATM judges commented on the design’s success in representing Barbadian flair, as well as the innovative integration of digital screens. Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts was highly praised by the category panel for its layout and use of recycled materials.

The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) won the Best Business Booth award for its impressive three-level exhibition space. According to the panel, the combination of the stand’s comfortable seating, spacious layout and quality hospitality created a welcoming environment for visitors. The Sharjah Business and Tourism Development Authority was highly commended in this category for its use of space, its successful reflection of the Emirate and its striking motorboat core.

WebBeds won the ATM Travel Tech Award for Best Booth for its warm, functional and eye-catching design, as well as its spacious upstairs meeting area. The judges also praised RateGain’s booth, whose use of wood set it apart from many of its other Travel Tech counterparts.

Visit Maldives won the Best Stand Feature award, with the judges commenting on the impact of its digital floor space. The striking display depicts a marine environment teeming with whale sharks and manta rays, effectively and memorably communicating the destination of the Indian Ocean.

Judges for the ATM 2023 Best of Stand Awards included Helen Sheppard, Sustainability Director, RX; Christian Druart, Secretary, Sustainability Working Group, Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI); Selina Donald, Chief Sustainability Advisor and Founder, The Bulb; Farnek Consulting and Nadia Ibrahim, Director of Sustainability; Kevin Agnew, Global Environmental Manager, RELX; Sarah Duignan, Director, Client Relations, STR; Philip Wooller, Senior Director, Middle East and Africa, STR; Matt Gibson, CEO, UpThink; and TTG Asia Editor Marissa Baranoff-Rossine.

Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director, Arabian Travel Market ME, said: “Our judges were impressed with the quality of this year’s stands, showcasing a range of innovative approaches to sustainability, functionality and hospitality. I would like to thank the panelists for their time and effort, and Congratulations to all this year’s winners for their outstanding exhibition space.”
