Rebound Plastic Exchange member Horizon Technologies’ recycled PET pellets have been certified food-grade by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT).
MoIAT currently regulates the use of recycled plastic water bottles in accordance with the UAE Food Contact Material Control Regulations and the highest public health and food safety standards, and is committed to further promoting recycled materials in the packaging industry.
Horizon Technologies’ Fujairah facility recycles as much as 900-1000 tonnes of used plastic bottles per month, accounting for 10% to 12% of all PET bottles used in the UAE. Rebound Plastic Exchange’s support of Horizon Technologies is in line with its commitment to assist Middle Eastern businesses to recycle and trade high-quality plastics locally, regionally and globally.

To successfully obtain a Certificate of Conformity, Horizon Technologies produced documentation demonstrating that it employs an effective quality system and Good Manufacturing Practice for food contact materials. These include a report from an accredited laboratory in the UAE certifying that the recalled product has passed safety tests, a report showing that the bottled water meets health and safety requirements, including migration testing of packaging materials in accordance with applicable technical regulations, and Quality and Safety Risk Assessment Report of Recycled Raw Materials for Bottled Drinking Water.
