Jean Todt has revealed he has been urged by both Christian Horner and Toto Wolff to intervene at the end of the 2021 Formula 1 season in Abu Dhabi.
Max Verstappen won the race and the title after race director Michael Massey incorrectly applied the rules, which led to a shootout between the Dutchman and Lewis Hamilton on the final lap.
The former FIA president resigned within days of the race to make way for current Mohammad bin Sulayem, who launched an investigation into the incident.
“I didn’t do anything, it’s not the job of the FIA ​​president,” Todt told evening post.
Todt likened his stance to FIFA president Gianni Infantino telling a referee when a penalty should be called.
“The referee has to be autonomous, have you ever heard Infantino say, ‘Here’s a penalty, but not here?'” he explained.

A documentary about Toth called “Method”, which premiered on French TV channel Canal+, shows the former FIA president watching the race.
Todt did not take part in the grand prix but claimed he had received calls from Mercedes and Red Bull bosses urging him to intervene.
“In the documentary you can see me watching that game at the country house with the crew,” Todd said.
“They call me Horner and Wolff [after the race], I replied to them, ‘I can’t interfere, this is the responsibility of the committee and the tournament director. ‘”
