mark Zuckerberg He has been in the spotlight because his company has spent more than $40 million on his personal security over the past three years. This stands in stark contrast to the monetary support (in the millions) that his family-run foundation provides to groups that want to “defund the police.”
Since 2020, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) has donated $3 million to PolicyLink, the organization behind DefundPolice.org, according to a New York Post report citing investigative reporter Lee Fang.
DefundPolice.org bills itself as “a one-stop shop for organizers and advocates looking for tools, resources, and training to get rid of policing and build safer communities.”
The report highlights that CZI, founded by Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, has also provided $2.5 million in financial assistance to the “Solidaire” organization that aims to abolish the police.

Notably, Meta (Zuckerberg’s company) boosted Zuckerberg’s security spending to $14 million in 2023, according to a February company filing. This is an increase of $4 million compared to $10 million in previous years. The billionaire was allowed to use the money for various security-related needs.
The company emphasized that Zuckerberg’s security has been increased given his “status and importance to Meta.” The company emphasized that Zuckerberg “demanded an annual salary of only $1, and would not receive any bonuses, equity awards, or other incentive compensation.”
The latest report tying Zuckerberg’s spending on personal security to his support for the “Defund the Police” group is seen as a mirror image of his hypocrisy.
