In an odd coincidence for the 2022-23 TV season, two medical dramas said goodbye on Tuesday — new amsterdam on NBC and resident on Fox. This is the series finale of the former.as much as the creator/performer David Schulner and executive producer Peter Horton Don’t think their five-year series should be cancelled, and they’ve had plenty of time to plan a promising ending starring Ryan Eggold.
After six seasons on Fox, resident It hasn’t been canceled…not yet. But Tuesday’s finale, dubbed “All Hands On Deck,” set the stage for a final farewell. Dr. Conrad Hawkins (Matt Zuckery) gets a happy ending by declaring his love for Dr. Billie Sutton (Jessica Lucas). Dr. Ian Sullivan (Andrew McCarthy) comes clean about his drug addiction and is able to continue his work at Chastain after rescuing young Sammy, Dr. Bell’s (Bruce Greenwood) granddaughter.

The hospital will remain fully funded after Dr. Devi (Anuja Joshi) cures Governor Betz (Stephen Culp) of a heart attack (and some weird mucus in his gut). Devi became attending physician after Bell realized that the symptoms of his multiple sclerosis were preventing him from performing his duties. He handed her the proverbial key — or in this case, a stethoscope — as his wife, Kit Vos (Jane Leaves), stood by.
How is Devi celebrated? By accepting an offer from Dr. Pravesh (Manish Dayal)! This hospital has a lot of hookups. Regardless, the episode ends with Hawkins and Sutton kissing before viewers see (finally?) the fictional Atlanta hospital.
Deadline hears expectations for season seven resident very slim, especially because 9-1-1 Franchises are more valuable to Fox. Even before this season, The show doesn’t update until the 11th hour.
