How to find out if your university is accredited in the UAE

[ad_1]

If you’ve just started looking for universities in the UAE to start the next stage of your education, one of the first questions you might have is – how do I know if a university or college is accredited in the UAE?

It is crucial to ensure that you study at an institution recognized by the relevant authorities, as you will need to submit your accredited degree when applying for jobs after you graduate.

The UAE Ministry of Education also emphasizes that students must enroll in accredited higher education institutions and courses to ensure their qualifications can be verified and recognized by employers.

The Ministry also stresses on its website that students should ensure that their chosen major is accredited by the Ministry to ensure that the qualification obtained will be accredited by the Ministry.

Accredited Universities in the UAE

The Council for Academic Accreditation (CAA) is the UAE Federal Government’s higher education quality assurance agency. You can easily find the list of UAE licensed institutions on the CAA website: https://www.caa.ae/Pages/Institutes/All.aspx

To find specific programs that have been accredited by CAA, you can visit this website: https://www.caa.ae/Pages/Programs/All.aspx

In Dubai, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) established the University Quality Assurance International Board (UQAIB) to ensure the quality of education at international branch campuses. UQAIB uses a validation model to ensure that the academic programs offered in Dubai are the same as the accredited programs taught at the institution’s main campus. All higher education institutions located in Dubai Free Zones are required to go through the UQAIB quality assurance process. According to the KHDA website, this process is in addition to the Council for Academic Accreditation (CAA). “The CAA is a functional department of the Federal Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research that licenses and accredits all higher education institutions outside the free zones,” the website states.

You can find a list of all KHDA-accredited higher education institutions here: https://web.khda.gov.ae/en/Education-Directory/Higher-Education

According to the KHDA website, students graduating from higher education institutions in Dubai Free Zones will be able to obtain KHDA-accredited degrees for employment and other purposes in Dubai.

In Abu Dhabi, the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) is the agency responsible for accrediting higher education institutions operating in the emirate. You can find out which universities and colleges are authorized by ADEK here: https://www.adek.gov.ae/Education-System/Higher-Education/List-of-Higher-Education-Institutions-in-Abu-Dhabi
