How to get from UAE to Saudi Arabia for less than Dhs400

Want to travel to Saudi Arabia? You can now catch a bus from UAE to Saudi Arabia from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah and reach Dammam and Riyadh in 8 to 12 hours.

One-way fares start from as low as Dhs220. The pick-up point for buses in Dubai is the Bin Rasheed Building in Frij Al Murar. The Sharjah bus station is located behind the King Faisal Mosque, while in Abu Dhabi the bus station is located at Al Shahamah on Al Nahhat Street.

A one-way fare to Dammam is Dhs220, and a return ticket is Dhs325. To Riyadh, the fare is Dhs280 one way and Dhs380 round trip. Children between the ages of 2 and 12 receive a 30% discount, and children under two travel for free.

Operated by the Saudi Arabian Public Transport Company (SAPTCO), the bus departs daily from Dubai to Dammam at 2pm and from Dubai at 3pm. You can find the full schedule here: saptco.com.sa

how to buy tickets

There are two ways to buy bus tickets.Passengers can simply book and pay for their tickets online here. Alternatively, tickets can also be purchased through the Belad Al Sham Passenger Transport Office located at the appropriate location in each emirate.

The Box Office is open Saturday to Thursday from 9am to 10pm and Friday from 11am to 10pm. Be sure to book your tickets a day or two in advance.

In addition to your bus ticket, travel for UAE residents and tourists requires specific documents.

UAE residents

Residents need to bring a printout of their Emirates ID, passport valid for at least six months, valid residency card and e-visa for GCC residents, you can Apply through this link.

Tourists traveling to Saudi Arabia from the UAE need a Saudi visitor visa – 49 countries are eligible for a Saudi eVisa to check your eligibility Click here. Otherwise, you can apply for a visitor visa through an authorized travel agency or the Saudi Consulate in your country. A valid UAE visitor visa is also required if you are returning to the UAE.
