HSMAI concludes ROC business strategy meeting

The Hotel Sales and Marketing Association Middle East (HSMAI ME) has concluded its fifth annual ROC Business Strategy Conference with 28 keynotes and 8 panel discussions covering a wide range of topics aimed at accelerating the recovery of the hospitality industry.

Held at the Conrad Dubai on November 28-29, the event brought together over 275 attendees to hear keynote presentations and panel discussions exploring all aspects of the hospitality industry, from sales and marketing to commercial and revenue management . This year’s conference also featured speakers and experts from outside the hospitality industry who contributed with fresh perspectives, bringing valuable insights and ideas to attendees.

Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Tourism and Business Marketing, said: “As the world changes once again, the success of hosting this important industry event in Dubai further strengthens the city’s position as a leading international event destination and is in line with our wealthy Visionary leadership’s ambition to make Dubai the top of the world as a global economic and tourism hub.”

“The event also showcased the strong energy and optimism that prevails in Dubai, allowing us to share with participants our experience of successfully turning challenges into opportunities and ultimately formulating sustainable development guidelines for all industries, including tourism. Actionable Blueprint: Delegates were able to hear about the renewal and transformation taking place across the industry, exchange views and information on growth strategies, and reaffirm their commitment to continue working together to further support this critical industry.

“The presence of so many industry experts and professionals at this conference reflects increased business and tourism confidence and adds to the continued momentum of the global tourism industry. We look forward to hosting similar events in the future as we continue to strive to make Dubai a world A vision of the world’s most visited destination and best city to live and work in,” he added.

The event also highlighted how the region has seized its unique position post-pandemic, as speakers focused on issues relevant to the industry.

HSMAI President and CEO Bob Gilbert said, “Since the pandemic, we have noticed a change in the way professionals from all sectors attend our conferences, especially from the commercial sector. We are seeing more and more Sales executives attend marketing and revenue meetings, and more and more marketing executives attend sales and revenue meetings.

“HSMAI is breaking down silos between departments as colleagues in marketing, sales and revenue management seek to better understand each other’s disciplines and work together to make the best business decisions.”

Mona Faraj, Managing Director of HSMAI Middle East, said: “Participation has increased significantly this year and it is encouraging to see how it is gaining traction. Over time, International Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association has gained more respect and value in the Middle East .When we started 5 years ago, we focused on Revenue Optimization Conferences (ROC), but today, all disciplines are dedicated to optimizing revenue, so we tend to have business strategy conferences with a more holistic view.By serving industry professionals and The partners provide leading education, best practice exchange, thought leadership and networking opportunities, and we plan to continue building this regional community.”

A key addition to ROC Middle East this year is the ROC Global Tradition – ROC(ing) The Lightening Round, where senior revenue and marketing executives from global hotel brands share their best practices, strategic insights and key ideas for driving revenue and profits.

China Star Awards returns this year with a new format. Sales, marketing and revenue initiatives were recognized by the audience after being screened by an advisory board. This year’s winners are Ayman Husain from Crowne Plaza Riyadh RDC Hotel & Convention Center and Alain Aboukhater from Al Bandar Rotana Dubai Creek. They each received $5,000 worth of education at Cornell and HSMAI.

Jeff Strachan, Director of Dubai College of Tourism (DCT), then concluded the two-day event with a 30-minute presentation, allowing attendees to take home the best of HSMAI’s fifth annual ROC Business Strategy for the Middle East. – trade arab news agency
