IAEA Supports UAE After Barakah Nuclear Plant Drone Attack

UAE Receives International Support After Barakah Nuclear Facility Incident

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has offered technical support to the UAE following a recent drone attack on the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant.

UAE authorities said the attack damaged an external generator but did not affect the plant’s core operations. Safety systems functioned as intended, and no radioactive material was released.

The IAEA praised the UAE’s response and confirmed that repair work is underway. One reactor was temporarily impacted by the loss of external power, but backup systems ensured safe operations throughout the incident.

The Barakah facility, the Arab world’s first commercial nuclear power plant, remains secure. The incident has renewed attention on the protection of critical infrastructure across the region amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
