exclusive: ice cubes is working with jesse collins entertainment in the sports docuseries surrounding his success Big Three sports league. Ice Cube will star with Jesse Collins Entertainment and be produced through his Cube Vision.
The as-yet-untitled series will take an unprecedented look at the formation of one of America’s fastest-growing new leagues, the Big3, as Ice Cube challenges the NBA’s efforts to become one of the world’s largest sports leagues.
described as welcome to wrexham and cheer Meet Basketball, the series will feature a dual narrative of the Cube and the challenges of building a new basketball league from the ground up, as well as the journey of one of the Big3 teams as they endure a grueling season in pursuit of a national title. The series will also feature the Big3’s expansive $1.2 billion lawsuit against Qatari investors.
In January 2017, Ice Cube and Head of Entertainment Jeff Kwatinetz announced the Big3, a new 3-on-3 half-court basketball league that will feature the best players of all time. Cube and Kwatinetz share a vision for a player-centric league focused on entertainment and innovation. Among these innovations, they introduced the 4-point shot, which has 3 4-point shots beyond the 3-point line. Since then, the Big3 has become the first professional sports league to be certified by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as a Black-owned and operated business and the first to have a female coach in a men’s sport.
The league also empowers various executives and entrepreneurs to hold senior positions on its sports teams and share revenue with players, one of the few leagues to do so. Basketball legends including Dr. J, George “Iceman” Gervin, Gary Payton, Allen Iverson, Lisa Leslie, Rick Barry, Stephen Jackson, etc. have served as Coaches and players have played. Among the many basketball legends they brought to the league was Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler, now president of the Big3. By design, the league sits at the intersection of sports, entertainment and culture.
Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon and Madison Merritt will executive produce the Jesse Collins Entertainment documentary series with Cube Vision’s Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz.
Jesse Collins Entertainment has a multi-year master television deal with ViacomCBS Cable Networks. On the feature-length side, the company has first-look agreements with Viacom’s film entities, including Paramount Pictures.
