Iman doesn’t like when people call David Bowie her “deceased husband.”
The 67-year-old model’s beloved spouse – whom she married in 1992 – died of cancer in January 2016, but she still thinks of him “every minute of every day” and sees him “always” as herself s husband.
She said: “I wear a necklace with his name on it, [a] Our friend the designer at Hedi Slimane sent me this and I’ve been wearing it since the first week after David passed away. Yes, I think about him all the time.
“People say your ‘dead husband’ and I say — don’t call my husband ‘late,’ he’s not my deceased husband, he’s my husband and he always will be.”
Iman – who has 22-year-old daughter Lexi with the “Ziggy Stardust” singer – isn’t ready to date again.
When asked if she would love to fall in love again on SiriusXM’s “Today Show Radio” special, she told Hoda Kotb: “I’m always willing to love I just don’t know if I’m willing to be in that relationship, just six years , so I’m not open to that yet.
“[Six years] Sometimes it feels like a blink of an eye, sometimes 100 years. “
The Somali beauty hopes to one day be reunited with the music legend.
She said: “If there is an afterlife, I want to see my husband again. That’s what I want.”
Iman feels “lucky” to have such a special relationship with David.
She said: “I think if you’re lucky, you’ll go through something like that, you know what I mean? It’s luck, I’m lucky.
“Fate is certain, but how can fate choose one person and not another?”
She will never forget his “wicked” sense of humor and the way they used to dance together.
When asked what David liked most about her, Iman said: “My sense of humour, but he has a wicked sense of humour. All puns, we laughed a lot.
“We danced a lot in the living room. It wasn’t his music, it would have been awkward. He liked jazz, he liked the blues.”
