Sept 6 (Reuters) – The DP World Tour is launching a new team match play called the Heroes Cup to provide European players with this form of experience, with the inaugural tournament scheduled for Jan 13-15, 2023 held at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
The DP World Tour said in a statement on Tuesday that the match in the United Arab Emirates will be hosted by European Ryder Cup 2023 captain Luke Donald.
The two 10-man teams will be made up of players from England and Ireland, as well as continental Europe, to be selected later by Donald.
Competitions will include quads, foursomes and singles, with 20 players participating in each match.
“When I was named Ryder Cup captain, the first thing I wanted to do was resume team match play to provide future Ryder Cup players, vice-captains and captains with game and leadership experience,” Donald said.
