The budget airline will now operate daily flights from Mumbai to Ras Al Khaimah
Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo on Thursday celebrated its maiden service from Mumbai to Ras Al Khaimah, marking the airline’s 100th overall destination in the 6E network.
The airline will now operate daily flights from Ras Al Khaimah International Airport (RKT) at an initial price of AED 625.
RKT is the fourth UAE airport IndiGo will fly to and its eleventh destination in the Middle East.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqar Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah; Engr Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAK International Airport; Airport CEO Atanasios Titonis as the inaugural flight landed in the emirate Also present.
The plane was greeted with a ceremonial water cannon salute as it taxied to the terminal, bringing 180 passengers from Mumbai, including IndiGo’s new CEO Pieter Elbers, who was also present, India’s ambassador to the UAE, Sunjay Sudhir.
IndiGo already offers flights to Dubai International Airport (DXB) from 12 destinations in India, with departures from Abu Dhabi (AUH) at 8 and Sharjah (SHJ) at 3.

Currently, there is only one direct route to India from Ras Al Khaimah (RKT). Air India Express serves the airport from Kozhikode (CCJ) in Kerala. SpiceJet previously offered regular scheduled services to RKT from Delhi (DEL) and Mumbai (BOM), but OAG data shows the last of these flights was operating in March.
“For IndiGo, this is the 100th destination in the 6E network and our fourth emirate. In India, IndiGo already serves 74 cities and communities across the country,” Elbers said.
“The new route further enhances connectivity in the region, as envisaged by the IndiGo strategy,” he added.

Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi said: “We are delighted to welcome IndiGo to Ras Al Khaimah International Airport and to be able to acknowledge the increased passenger traffic from the Indian subcontinent. The driving force behind the Ras Al Khaimah economy is its booming tourism industry and the industrial sector, and IndiGo’s approach is very much in line with the needs of our passengers.”
