This is the fourth airport that IndiGo will fly to in the UAE and its eleventh destination in the entire Middle East. Ras Al Khaimah International Airport (RKT) will be connected with daily flights from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (BOM) from 22 September.

IndiGo Chief Strategy and Revenue Officer Mr. Sanjay Kumar said,

IndiGo’s ‘Saver’ fare class starts at INR 9,999 one way, which offers hand luggage and checked luggage allowances only. The ‘Flexi Plus’ fare will provide passengers with a one-way ticket of Rs 11,049 with free meals, seat selection and slightly more lenient rescheduling terms.

The airline plans to use one of its Airbus A320 aircraft to provide the service. However, it’s unclear whether IndiGo will deploy one of its older A320ceo variants or work with the newer neos. It’s most likely the latter, as the airline is phasing out all CEO-spec airframes in its fleet, while adopting the new Neos.

According to ch-aviation, IndiGo’s current fleet consists of 30 Airbus A320ceo aircraft, 143 A320neos, 65 A321neos and 35 ATR72-600 airframes.

India to United Arab Emirates

Several airports in India are closely connected to the major airports in the UAE, such as Dubai International Airport (DXB), Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH), and even Sharjah International Airport (SHJ). However, despite being a popular tourist destination for Indians and enjoying strong business ties, Ras Al Khaimah doesn’t have many direct options.

Flightradar24’s route map shows that Calicut International Airport (CCJ) in Kerala is the only airport in India that is directly connected to RKT. The route is served by Air India Express, with two flights a week on Tuesdays and Fridays.
