Indonesia will emphasize its role in trade, investment and tourism at Expo 2020 Dubai, which will be held from October 1st to March 31st, 2020, marking that it is ready to compete on a global scale. This is so far It participated in the World Expo for the eighth time.

Didi Sumedi, Director of the National Export Development Department of the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia, said that Indonesia’s participation in this event is an excellent opportunity to showcase the country’s trade potential, investment opportunities and tourist destinations on the global stage.

He said in a statement: “Indonesia’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity because it will benefit us a lot, including strengthening Indonesia’s economic growth.”

The pavilion will display a miniature version of the archipelago, occupying 1,860 square meters of space in the Dubai Exhibition Center. The pavilion is sponsored by partners, including Astra, Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS), Gajah Tunggal, April, Wijaya Karya and Indofood.

Didi, who is also the general commissioner of the Indonesian Pavilion, said that this opportunity will also strengthen Indonesia’s vision of becoming the 10th largest economy by 2045, with a market share of 2%.

“The Indonesia Pavilion is a micro-country that will serve as a gateway to introduce Indonesia to the world. Each week, the Indonesia Pavilion will focus on displaying various ministries, institutions, provincial governments, well-known brands, and budding small, medium and micro enterprises. [micro, small and medium enterprises] This will strengthen Indonesia’s exports,” he added.

The Indonesia Pavilion will exhibit more than 300 export products from local small, medium and micro enterprises, including commodities, handicrafts, interior products, textiles and fashion products.

During the six-month event, the Indonesia Pavilion will present 26 weekly themes and more than 75 business forums in a mixed format, and will be supported by 22 ministries and agencies and 8 provincial governments.

Indonesia’s participation in the World Expo aims to attract investment, which will benefit from infrastructure preparation, regulatory and bureaucratic reforms, as well as improved human resource quality. In turn, this will highlight the investment opportunities in Indonesia, from the realization of Industry 1.0 and national strategic projects to special economic zones (KEK) based on industry and tourism.
