[ad_1]

  • The move aims to promote innovative technologies in the transport sector

Abu Dhabi: The Integrated Transport Center (ITC) of the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport has announced its participation in UAE Innovation Month under the slogan “UAE Innovate 2023”. ITC’s involvement stems from its desire to strengthen the culture and values of innovation and creativity in the transport sector. Throughout Innovation Month, ITC showcased numerous innovative projects and initiatives that improve the quality of services provided by the public transport sector and contribute to building smart and sustainable transport systems. In line with the vision of our wise leadership, these projects and initiatives also help to effectively facilitate the mobility of UAE residents and visitors, promote road safety and support the achievement of the UAE’s Sustainable Development Goals.

ITC said UAE Innovation Month was an ideal opportunity to support the nation’s culture of innovation. This month also highlights major initiatives, smart projects, and groundbreaking solutions that can increase the efficiency of government and private sector operations, improve the quality of services provided to the public, and support local development at multiple levels. ITC also highlighted that UAE Innovation Month is an opportunity to build capacity, develop national talent and capabilities, and promote a culture of innovation in government and private institutions through a supportive culture that encourages individuals to develop plans and turn them into reality.

During ITC’s participation in ‘UAE Innovate 2023’, ITC showcased a range of projects and initiatives through a special exhibition organized in conjunction with Innovation Month at ITC Headquarters in Abu Dhabi. A number of strategic stakeholders from the government and private sector also participated in the exhibition, showcasing their latest innovations and technologies related to the transport sector, emphasizing the importance of innovation in transforming the transport sector, facilitating personal mobility and improving transportation. The quality of service provided.

One of the initiatives conceptualized by ITC is a smart project that includes smart doors for weighing trucks and detecting overloaded trucks. This project enhances the function of truck axle weighing station, it is an integrated smart system consisting of electronic sensors to detect weight through 3D laser measurement system, using 3D scanner to measure the dimensions of the vehicle, including height, size, number of axles, double tires and their speed. The project helps monitor the weight and dimensions of the trucks, ensuring they comply with applicable requirements and norms, and aims to maintain the safety of road users in line with the strategies developed by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The project is also in line with ITC’s vision to support the establishment of a strong and well-developed infrastructure in the industry and ensure its long-term sustainability.

Another ITC innovation is an early warning system that minimizes the chance of running a red light at an intersection by using artificial intelligence to monitor the position of the first stationary vehicle on a stop line near a traffic light. It then issues a visual or audible warning, or both, to the driver. The system incorporates the use of lighting signals on the road to prevent drivers from moving their vehicles while traffic lights are still red. The project aims to reduce traffic accidents caused by drivers who are distracted or not paying attention to the colors of traffic lights, helping to improve the level of safety for all road users.

In addition, ITC articulated its Intelligent Traffic Detour Inspection project, through which it provides traffic monitoring technology for intelligent traffic patrols to inspect road detours and ensure compliance with ITC-approved plans. The project helps to expedite the procedures for detecting and monitoring traffic detours, it also saves effort and time spent on site inspections and ensures that necessary procedures are followed.

Some of ITC’s strategic stakeholders from the private research and academic sectors had the opportunity to present projects, research ideas and innovative applications in the field of transport. For example, New York University presented an electronic security research in “Protecting Self-Driving Systems from Hacking.” The research addresses system security, intelligent networking, and developed security practices that help protect electronic infrastructure and contribute to adding value to the overall security of electronic systems in the field of intelligent transportation.

MENADC also showcased a number of projects related to the field of smart transportation, including a smart driving test system and a smart tracking and monitoring system that can track vehicles and automatically report serious accidents without a human being. reporting, supported by video analytics and traffic control systems at intersections to monitor violations and classify vehicles. Additionally, the smart parking monitoring system includes fixed cameras running on solar energy and AI-enhanced mobile cameras capable of calculating Mawaqif parking fees, alerting drivers and signaling violations.

Jacobs Engineering Services Company, on the other hand, showed a project called “Mobile Charging,” which exploits the possibility of charging an electric car without parking. As for the G42 organization Bayanat, it showcased the latest technology related to self-driving cars and provided opportunities for employees to experience them. Emirates Driving Company offers a self-driving simulation experience, which is considered a major milestone in the transportation sector as it relies on AI to analyze data, detect the vehicle’s surroundings, and automatically avoid obstacles in a safe manner to keep passengers safe.

And Tahaluf Al Emarat Technical Solutions has several innovative projects, such as smart bus shelters that utilize modern technology to enhance passenger transport experience. These shelters have many benefits utilizing artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things and are powered by solar energy. These include; outdoor advertising screens, kiosks displaying e-government service applications and smart screens displaying bus information. Riders can also charge their phones and electric scooters using the charging outlets provided by the shelter. In addition, the shelter will provide a beautifully designed modern wireless charging platform. In addition, energy-saving technologies such as smart air conditioners, humidity sensors, and cold air outlets provide passengers with a comfortable waiting experience.

The company’s team of safety experts equips the shelters with the latest safety and security technology, including cameras integrated with artificial intelligence technology operating using biometrics, to ensure the highest level of safety and comfort for bus passengers.

Also, Tahaluf Al Emarat Technical Solutions showcased its parking inspection system using AI-Vpark, a smart vehicle powered by artificial intelligence that can patrol designated areas. Smart vehicles are able to detect and identify parked vehicles and record details such as license plate number, color, model, make, etc. It can also detect many types of parking violations in real time. The system has greatly enhanced the management and operational efficiency in the parking inspection process, and also improved the quality level of urban supervision and safety. In addition, the system can organize and facilitate parking spaces, prevent traffic congestion, protect the environment by reducing traffic pollution, and make the most of asset management.

Finally, as a professional organization for modern technology research and research, the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) represented by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) has proposed a series of services and support for inventions and research in the transportation sector, in obtaining “next generation mobile Travel”, “thermal composite solutions for transportation”, “self-healing materials for sustainable transportation” and other titles.

The participation of ITC and its strategic stakeholders in “UAE Innovates 2023” is in line with its efforts to promote a culture of innovation in the public transport sector in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, aimed at realizing the aspirations of the wise leadership for a smart, integrated and sustainable transport system, Improve the quality of life in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi by facilitating the mobility of individuals within the city and supporting local development in various ways.
