PUTRAJAYA, July 4, 2023: Two groups of travel trade partners comprising 17 travel agencies from Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently participated in a six-day, five-night familiarization tour hosted by Tourism Malaysia .
The tours are part of a promotional campaign themed ‘Colorful Cities and Interesting Destinations in Malaysia’, showcasing the latest product information.
The first batch of Iranian tour groups organized in cooperation with Air Arabia departed from Tehran, flew to Kuala Lumpur via Sharjah, UAE, and experienced many tourist attractions such as KLCC, Kuala Lumpur Tower, National Palace, Merdeka Square, Central Market and Batu Caves, Then head to Lexis Hotel Port Dickson Hibiscus to discover a 5-star luxury beach resort. The eight participants also had the opportunity to visit Putrajaya and engage in various indoor and outdoor activities at Resorts World Genting.
The second trip involved nine travel agencies from the UAE, including representatives of Air Arabia, boarding a flight from Sharjah to Kuala Lumpur. Participants enjoyed water sports at Lexis Port Dickson, toured Kuala Lumpur, and visited the brand new Resorts World Genting and Sunway Lagoon.
Tourism Malaysia Director-General Datuk Dr Amar Abdjapal said: “In addition to being active in the latest edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2023 last May, Tourism Malaysia continues to strengthen Malaysia’s tourism presence in the Middle East market. Promote.”
“We hope that the travel agencies participating in this FAM Trips will enthusiastically support us in selling tour packages to their respective markets, promoting Malaysia as a safe, value-for-money and preferred holiday destination.”
Foreign tourists from Iran and the UAE visited Malaysia last year at 7,570 and 3,230 respectively, compared with 46,559 and 11,174 before the outbreak in 1999. Currently, Air Arabia has 3 direct flights per week from Sharjah to Kuala Lumpur with a seating capacity of 1,944.
