Iraqi PM meets UAE political and business leaders in Abu Dhabi

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sultani on February 9, who is on an official visit to the country.

Sheikh Al-Nahyan welcomed the Iraqi Prime Minister at the Qasr Al-Watan Palace, where they discussed opportunities to develop cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment and development.

The two leaders also discussed regional and global concerns, agreed on the need to step up diplomatic efforts to ensure security and development, and pledged to mediate differences peacefully.

The Iraqi prime minister also met with prominent business leaders in Abu Dhabi during his official visit.

The main purpose of the meeting was to assess the potential for commercial and economic cooperation with Iraq, as well as the opportunities offered by the Iraqi government to initiate a large number of infrastructure and strategic projects in Iraqi cities.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Al-Sudani emphasized how open Iraq is to all forms of trade, economic cooperation and collaboration, and anything that aims to promote and improve services provided to Iraqi citizens. They discussed available sectors for UAE businesses to maintain long-term investment partnerships and create a solid investment climate in the Iraqi market.

This is Sudan’s second visit to the Gulf country after taking office as prime minister in October 2022. The prime minister visited Kuwait last November to discuss strengthening bilateral ties with the kingdom.

Meanwhile, on 9 February, the Iraqi head of state revealed that Baghdad was preparing for bilateral talks. Iran and Saudi Arabia Ensure regional and international stability.

He announced and confirmed that Iraq could establish serious talks between Tehran and Riyadh, adding that the Saudi crown prince mohammad bin salman (MbS) agreed to start a dialogue with the Islamic Republic. The meeting will be held “soon”, and Sudani hopes the potential security meeting will rise to a diplomatic level.
