Former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira launched a daring fight against defending champion Islam Makhachev immediately after his sensational comeback at UFC 289 last month to defeat Bernier Dariusz. Challenge, requiring a rematch.
In a post-match interview, the “Do Bronx” appeared ready to head to enemy territory to take on the champions in a rematch in Abu Dhabi:
“I want to be a champion. Who is the champion? He is [Makhachev] Got the belt yet? That’s it? let’s go. “

A recent report by combat sports journalist Aaron Bronsteter revealed that the Brazilian has made it clear that he will not be preparing to fight Maha at UFC 294, scheduled for October 21, 2023, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Chef bout:

Aleksandar Volkanovsky Predicts Islam Makhachev vs. Charles Oliveira 2
UFC featherweight champion Aleksandr Volkanovski recently fought Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira. As the last opponent in the Octagon to face Makhachev, The Great provided the Dagestanian with his most challenging test yet.
During the UFC 290 pre-fight media day, Volkanovski said:
“I hope things will become similar [to the first fight]…Look, Islam is good. He is very well rounded.A lot of people want to say, “Oh, we found a gap in his armor and solved that puzzle.” That’s me, that’s because I’m up front [Makhachev]. He’s as good as you say, but I’m just telling you how good I am…I think it’s the same as the first game. “
