UAE Issues Strong Condemnation of Israeli Airstrikes on Jabalia Refugee Camp in Gaza

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has vehemently condemned the Israeli airstrikes on the Jabalia refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, which have resulted in numerous casualties. These indiscriminate attacks, as the UAE emphasizes, could have dire consequences for the region.

Call for an Immediate Ceasefire

In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has made a compelling call for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further loss of life. The UAE places great importance on upholding the safety of civilians, as per international humanitarian law and treaties, ensuring they are not targeted during conflicts.

Backing the UN General Assembly Resolution

The MoFA has underscored the significance of a United Nations General Assembly resolution that calls for a humanitarian truce in Gaza and a cessation of hostilities. The UAE views this resolution as a crucial step towards de-escalation, safeguarding civilian lives, and facilitating the immediate, secure, sustainable, and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance.

Emergency UN Security Council Meeting: Jabalia Refugee Camp

Responding to Israel’s announcement of expanding ground operations in the Gaza Strip, the United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting at the UAE’s request. The international community was urged to stand firm in bringing an end to the ongoing cycle of conflict.

Warning of Catastrophic Repercussions

The UAE reiterates the risk of catastrophic consequences in the absence of a political resolution. Ignoring potential ramifications could result in devastating effects on peace and stability in the region.
