Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff, creators of the acclaimed TV thriller Fauda, are teaming up with UAE-based production company Image Nation Abu Dhabi on an innovative venture – TV Writer’s Lab.
According to the official definition, the purpose of this collaboration is to promote 13 writers from Israel and the United Arab Emirates. The goal is to strengthen new voices from the region through research, development and training.
This will involve individual and group meetings with mentors and senior creators to facilitate the development of plans to continue the collaboration and promote the series in international markets.
The author’s lab will include two workshops scheduled for October this year and March 2024 in Abu Dhabi, as well as a webinar linking program lecturers and international guests. This dynamic exchange of ideas and experiences will enhance a writer’s skills and perspective.
The outcome of the lab will be the development of comprehensive story layouts, professional pitches and pilot episodes, shaping writers’ projects and marketing them to the television industry.
“We’re particularly excited about our partnership with Image Nation Abu Dhabi, whose goal is to empower television writers early in their careers,” said Raz and Issacharoff, founders of Faraway Road Productions, which produced Fauda.
“The power of stories is great, and there are plenty of storytellers in the region who just need guidance, professional advice and the right opportunity,” they noted. “Through this bold and impactful symposium, we hope to provide the region’s up-and-coming talent with additional professional tools to capitalize on their professional paths and share their series stories with the wider world.”
“For more than 10 years, Image Nation has provided top-notch training to aspiring filmmakers, writers and creators, developing an impressive new generation of entertainment professionals,” said Ben Ross, Chief Content Officer, Image Nation Abu Dhabi .
“This new Writer’s Lab further strengthens our programming, providing four months of dedicated feedback, mentorship and industry insight – an invaluable experience for anyone looking to enter the entertainment industry,” he added.
“The creative industries are also a great conduit for cultural exchange, so we’re especially looking forward to working with Faraway Road Productions. I can’t wait to discover some incredible new talent from the region telling real and important stories,” Ross added.
