[ad_1]

The Italian Pavilion, organized by the Italian Trade Agency, brought together 27 Italian companies specialized in the production of marine accessories and components to participate in the Dubai International Boat Show.

The event was held in Dubai Harbour, March 1-5.

According to Deloitte’s latest ‘Yacht Market Monitor’ report, the retail market for new boats continues to grow, showing great resilience and dynamism. From 2014 to 2021, the global market capitalization will grow at an average rate of +10%, reaching a total value of about 28 billion euros. 90% of the global new boat retail market is generated by power boats and 10% by sailboats.

2021 is the fastest growing year for the Italian maritime industry, with total turnover increasing from 4.6 billion in 2020 to 6.1 billion euros (+31%). A remarkable figure that puts the industry’s turnover almost on par with the record biennium of 2007-2008. Exports of shipbuilding products reached a record high of EUR 3.37 billion (March 2022).

One of the largest sources of revenue for the Italian maritime industry are accessories and components, which are in high demand worldwide for their excellent quality and technology. Italy is the world market leader in parts and accessories. The total turnover in 2021 will reach a record high of nearly 1.2 billion euros, 50 percent of which will come from sales to foreign markets.

In terms of boat exports, leisure and sports boats are the fastest growing category: exports increased from 850 million euros in 2000 to 3 billion euros in 2021, with a monetary value of 2.1 billion euros and a 247.6% increase in export value. Non-European countries were identified as the main destinations for overseas sales, with direct exports to non-EU markets worth 2.2 billion euros, equivalent to 74.6% of Italy’s sector’s exports (64.3% in 2020). Leisure and sports boat exports to the UAE increased by 261.5% to €39.1 million in 2021 (2020: €10.8 million), a triple-digit increase.

Italy ranks second globally in shipbuilding exports with a 16% share (worth $3.5 billion). Confirming Italy’s leadership in the yachting sector, the Global Order Book 2022 is a special ranking compiled annually by Showboats International magazine, placing the Italian industry at the top of the world’s largest yacht orders, with a total commissioned of 19,158 meters and 523 yachts under construction.

Lorenzo Fanara, Italian Ambassador to the UAE, said: “The incredible growth of the Italian shipbuilding industry in recent years is a testament to the excellence of Italian nautical technology and design. In the UAE, Italian nautical manufacturing is a symbol of luxury, elegance and quality. An incredible 261.5% increase in leisure and sports boat exports to the UAE in 2021, confirming the growing trust placed in Italian companies and the appreciation for the timeless quality that Italy has to offer. “

Amedeo Scarpa, Director of ITA’s UAE office, said: “Italy is one of the main suppliers of ships and boats to the UAE ($39.1 million in 2021), with exports of nautical accessories, components and boats to the UAE reaching €76 million in November 2022, Confirmed that this country is one of the main target markets for Italian manufacturers.

“Year after year, the Dubai International Boat Show proves once again its role as an important promotional, networking and business matching platform for the nautical industry, especially for Italian companies. We are here to support ‘Made in Italy’, the slogan this year” Sustainability is sustainability” and we hope to draw the attention of the public and the industry to one of the hottest global topics: respecting the environment at different points in the seafood life cycle.” – trade arab news serviceelectronic
