Virginia Patton dies at 97.
The actress who played Ruth Dakin Bailey’s “Life Is So Beautiful” in the 1946 comedy classic is said to have died Aug. 18 at an assisted living facility in Albany, Georgia.
The Hollywood star’s death was listed by Matthews Funeral Home.
Virginia co-star Caroline Grimes led the tribute.
She wrote on Facebook: “We have another angel! Virginia Barton Moss. She is 97. She is with her beloved Cruise now. She will be missed!”
Virginia was born in Cleveland, Ohio in June 1925 and graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland before moving to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California.
The movie star went on to star in 1947’s “Burning Cross” and 1948’s “Black Hawk” after appearing in “The Good Life.”
However, she decided to quit show business in the 1940s to care for her family, and her big-screen ending was “Lucky Stiff” in 1949.
In 1949, she married Cruse W. Moss, an auto industry executive, with whom she had three children, and they were married for nearly seven years.
However, he sadly passed away in 2018.
After leaving show business, Virginia went on to be a docent at the University of Michigan Art Museum and president and director of the real estate and investment firm Barton & Company.
The businesswoman was the niece of General George S. Patton.
