Fortunately, that changed in season 2, meaning the cast and crew not only got to work on real Navajo land, but also rented an old casino to help the local tribe and hired local natives for the production.
“It’s important that we get it right,” McClarnon said Saturday at Deadline’s Contenders TV awards season event. “It’s not a documentary. We try our best to get it right, but we always miss things. It’s still a fictional TV show.”

As lead and executive producer, McLanon was able to work alongside fellow producers George RR Martin and Robert Redford, which was partly exciting. Created by Graham Roland, the series is based on Tony Hillerman’s popular Leaphorn & Chee series of books.
“People love the show,” McClarnon said. “I just want to keep people entertained. It’s great that we finally have our own voice, Aboriginal people. I hope dark wind Open that door again. “
