Jaishankar thanks UAE Prez for elevating bilateral relations to new heights

Abu Dhabi [UAE]September 2 (ANI): foreign minister (EAM) S Jaishankar to meet on Friday UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Thank him for his guidance in pushing the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to a new level.
Jaishankar also conveyed Prime Minister Modi’s greetings to President Zayed Nahyan.
“Thanks to His Excellency Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for hosting me. Conveying personal greetings and warm wishes from Prime Minister @narendramodi. Great attention to his guidance in advancing our comprehensive strategic partnership to Higher heights,” Jashankar tweeted.
Jaishankar is on a three-day visit to the UAE to review the entire relationship between the two countries. During the visit, EAM met with several Emirati dignitaries.
On September 1, Jaishankar co-chaired the 14th India-UAE Joint Committee Meeting (JCM) in Abu Dhabi with his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdulla bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The two ministers were joined by the UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, Dr. Sani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vinai Kwatra, as well as ambassadors and senior officials from both sides.
At the 14th round of the JCM meeting, the two foreign ministers expressed their deep satisfaction that India-Afghanistan bilateral relations continued to maintain a high growth trajectory.
In this context, they noted the regular high-level political interactions between the two sides, notably the meeting between Prime Minister Modi and the UAE President in Abu Dhabi on June 28, the virtual summit on February 18, and the July 2022 meeting Virtual I2U2 Summit.
The two ministers noted the cooperation between the two countries in various multilateral forums and international organizations, especially in the UN Security Council.

The two ministers expressed their delight at the entry into force of the landmark Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) on 1 May and the various events and activities organized to effectively implement the agreement.
The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to the goal of reaching $100 billion in bilateral trade over the next five years. They also positively assessed the investment partnership between the two countries and the growth of UAE investments in various sectors in India.
“The next meeting of the high-level working group of the two countries is expected to be held in India soon,” MEA said.
The progress of the various elements of bilateral cooperation identified in the vision statement adopted by the leaders of the two countries on 18 February 2022 was also reviewed. The two ministers noted their commitment to strengthen their long-term energy partnership, including two-way investment.
They also noted progress in discussions on various aspects of renewable energy and green hydrogen. A climate action memorandum of understanding was signed in May 2022.
“The two ministers reviewed the ongoing discussions between the two sides in the field of food security, including in the framework of I2U2. They were pleased with the progress of cooperation in healthcare and education,” the MEA said in a statement.
A team of government and private sector representatives from India and the UAE recently visited Kenya and Tanzania to identify opportunities for joint projects in the health sector.
“The discussions between the two sides on the establishment of an IIT in the UAE have also progressed with the establishment of a joint working group between the two institutions,” MEA said.
Both ministers stressed the importance of promoting start-ups and entrepreneurship in different sectors such as fintech, edtech, healthtech, agtech, logistics and supply chain. The two ministers also pointed to the possibility of connecting instant payment platforms between the two countries, such as through the United Payments Interface (UPI) in India.
The UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs appreciated the contribution of the Indian community to the progress and development of the UAE, while the EAM thanked him and the entire UAE leadership for the care of the Indian community.
The two sides agreed to hold various institutional dialogue sessions on consular issues, skills and manpower issues in the coming months. (ANI)
