jake gyllenhaal, in one episode popularabout his experience working with director Guy Ritchie on his upcoming action-thriller, covenant.
Gyllenhaal explained that working with different ideas is what he loves about the job, and working with Richie, it was unlike anything he had done before.
“For Guy, it was unlike anything I’d ever done,” he recalls. “He said to me, ‘Don’t memorize any of your lines,’ and then the script was 50 pages. It wasn’t even a full script.”
Instead, they started writing the script the day they shot, which made for a creative and inspiring experience.
“Usually, the script is about 110 pages, and I was like, ‘What’s this?’ When he first sent it, then he said, ‘You come on set, we’ll deal with it that day, and then you go and shoot your s things. “It was one of the most inspiring and creative experiences I’ve ever had because it required total letting go.”
Gyllenhaal also addressed the use of real human and animal droppings in the 2005 film Jarhead, saying that while they had flykeepers on set, they didn’t use real droppings.
covenant, directed by Guy Ritchie, starring Gyllenhaal as U.S. Army Sgt. John Kinley is set to hit theaters April 21.
