Japan’s Hakuhodo acquires majority stake in India’s MA&TH Entertainment

Tokyo-based global advertising giant Hakuhodo Inc. acquired a majority stake in MA&TH (Marching Ants & Trigger Happy) Entertainment Network Private Limited, India’s leading brand and entertainment agency group.

Headquartered in Mumbai, the Cannes Lions award-winning MA&TH Group serves clients involved in content creation, including film producers, studios, streaming platforms, broadcasters and international brands.

Films the agency has worked on for theatrical release include SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: Origins, Rajkumar Hirani’s Three Idiots and PK (both starring Aamir Khan) and Sanju (directed by Ranbir Kapoor), “Uri: The Surgical Strike” by Ronnie Screwvala, “Slumdog Millionaire” by Danny Boyle, “Om Shanti Om” by Farah Khan by Shah Rukh Khan and Zoya Akhtar “Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara” starring Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar.

The company has also produced advertising campaigns for Netflix’s “Delhi Crime” and “AK vs AK”, Amazon Prime Video’s “The Family Man” and “Mirzapur” and Sony’s “Scam 1992”, “Shark Tank” India’, ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ and ‘MasterChef’.

MA&TH’s group companies include Marching Ants Advertising Pvt. Ltd. (MA), established in 2001, and Trigger Happy Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. (TH), established in 2007. MA specializes in strategic planning, key visual development and activation, while TH specializes in audiovisual promotion, video production and film marketing strategy.

Hakuhodo is one of the largest advertising agencies in the world. The company is the backbone of the Hakuhodo DY Group and has a broad international presence with 150 offices in more than 20 countries. MA&TH is involved in several collaborative projects with New Delhi-based Hakuhodo Group’s digital agency AdGlobal 360 and activation agency PMG.
