Jebel Jais Reopens with New Entry Rules: Advance Booking or Ticket Now Mandatory

Jebel Jais Reopens with New Entry Rules: Booking or Ticket Now Required

Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak, has officially reopened to visitors after a weeks-long closure due to a significant rockslide. However, access is now regulated under new entry rules designed to manage traffic and ensure safety.

New Entry Requirements Explained

Gone are the days of spontaneous drives up the mountain. To enter, visitors must now:

  • Have a confirmed booking for a designated attraction like the 1484 by Puro restaurant or an approved adventure activity (e.g., the zipline).

  • OR purchase a Viewing Deck Park ticket for Dhs 10 at the security entrance.

Only vehicles with a valid booking or ticket will be permitted past security checkpoints, subject to available capacity and road conditions. A staff member emphasized these measures are crucial for traffic management and visitor safety.

Background: The Reason for the Closure

The closure was triggered by a large rockslide on a steep section of the mountain road, deemed more complex and hazardous than previous weather-related issues. Authorities are conducting extensive repairs and stabilization work, with cautious optimism for full access restoration before the end of Ramadan.

Visitor Reactions and Experience

Despite the new system, visitors expressed delight at the mountain’s reopening. Tourists from Austria described the experience as a “wonderful surprise,” praising the stunning scenery. A visitor from Dubai noted the newly upgraded road made the journey smooth and enjoyable, enhancing their first trip to Ras Al Khaimah.

Plan Your Visit

Jebel Jais remains a premier outdoor destination, especially in cooler months. To ensure a smooth visit:

  • Plan ahead and secure necessary bookings or be prepared to purchase a viewing deck ticket.

  • Check for latest updates on capacity and road conditions before traveling.

These updated rules aim to balance public access with long-term safety and preservation, allowing everyone to responsibly enjoy one of the UAE’s most iconic natural landscapes.
