Germany’s KFC has apologised for inviting customers to “treat themselves” at Crystal Nights.

The company sent an alert to its mobile app on the anniversary in 1938, when thousands of Jewish-owned businesses, synagogues and homes were vandalized and vandalized.

“Today is Crystal Night’s Remembrance Day! Treat yourself to some tender cheese on your crispy chicken. Now at KFC Cheese!” said KFC’s message Wednesday.

It sent another apology message an hour later, then formally apologized for the “unplanned, insensitive and unacceptable message” after the first notice sparked outrage and suspicion.

The fast-food chain said it was automatically generated by its computer system, using a bot that generates notifications based on National Remembrance Day.

However, it said it had not followed its internal review process.

“We understand and respect the gravity and history of this day and remain committed to equality, inclusion and belonging for all,” KFC said.

In addition to the destruction of property, as many as 30,000 Jewish men were rounded up and sent to concentration camps during the Crystal Nights, and at least 91 died.

It’s called Kristallnacht, which means Crystal Night, because of broken glass strewn across the streets of Germany and Austria following the violence.
