Khalifa University opens Human Body Museum at Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences

ABU DHABI – Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Administrative Office and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Khalifa University, Khalifa University of Science and Technology The Faculty of Health has opened the Museum of Human Sciences (CMHS) main campus in Abu Dhabi.

The museum is a testament to its commitment to providing world-class education and enhancing the healthcare ecosystem through discovery and research.

The Museum of the Body follows the unprecedented success of the region’s inaugural Body Worlds exhibition, a touring exhibition of the dissected, plasticized human body that opened on the main campus in September 2019 and ran for six months.

The presentation of the anatomical human body focuses on demonstrating the regional and systemic anatomy of healthy adult individuals. There is also a dedicated section emphasizing the impact of lifestyle diseases and pathological processes on human organs.

Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi, Executive Vice-Chancellor of Khalifa University, said: “The Human Body Museum is a perfect complement to CMHS and Khalifa University, which is consistently ranked among the top institutions in higher education and research in the UAE. The Museum also reaffirms our commitment to Dedicated to advancing knowledge for the benefit of humanity, and promoting Khalifa University’s heritage and culture to lead, innovate, inspire and change.The country’s first museum dedicated to medical and health sciences is also in line with the UAE’s commitment to creating a world-class healthcare ecosystem With the utmost attention, the ecosystem not only ensures care for those in need, but also education and outreach, while producing well-trained and well-rounded-equipment medical professionals.”

Dr John Rock, Founding Dean of CMHS at Khalifa University, said: “As the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Khalifa University continues to make progress in developing human capital, the addition of this museum of the human body will play an important role in raising awareness about health A role for medical education in the UAE and the region. We strongly believe that these exhibits will encourage the community to stay away from harmful habits while serving as a simplified anatomy lesson that combines visitor education and curiosity.”

The CMHS Museum of the Human Body at Khalifa University is a non-profit initiative to encourage visitors and residents of the UAE to adopt a healthy lifestyle and consider studying medicine and health sciences.

Also, with plastination, the inside of the body can be permanently displayed in a more glamorous and aesthetically pleasing way. These plastinated specimens are virtually impervious to decay, so they can be used to train future doctors and educate the public about the inner workings of the human body.
