Explain the background of you and the company in detail.

TCT Paradox provides painless cyber security. It is a calm force that comes in, talks to you like a human being, and helps you resolve your business security challenges. It offers accessible risk assessments & business protection packages for proactive business owners & CEOs of small to medium-sized businesses – minus the need to spend ridiculous amounts of money or manage impossible implementation.

What are your goals?

We bring knowledge to the UAE in an easily accessible and unique way. With over 24 years of experience within cyber security globally, after having worked for tier 1 global institutions. Information on cyber security is about business risk. We help businesses identify their exposure. Technology is a tool, and it should be used as such.

What do you feel is the biggest strength of yourself/company right now?

I have a broad and in-depth understanding of business information and technology risk having started my cybersecurity journey in the 1990s. After a successful and long international career working and leading information and cybersecurity teams across Asia, the UK, and Europe holding executive roles and as a qualified chief information security officer

What was the path you/your company took to get to where you are today?

I saw vendors and suppliers in this space catered to the top firms with deep pockets. But the world is filled with all types of business; if we look at the numbers, 90% of the world works for smaller companies. At the time, I was working for ‘The 1%’, but I was only helping a few of the many that needed access to this support. SMEs are often exposed to more risk and less financial resources to support themselves against these (cyber) threats. One of the biggest drivers why I chose to take TCT Paradox down this path is that I knew what they needed to do to protect themselves and wanted to do just that.

Why did you start (or want to be the head of) this company?

To help the everyday person that has the ambition to create their own company but not all the knowledge on how to protect themselves against the inevitable cyberattacks that come from a connected global world.

What have been the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome?

Knowledge sharing. This world is changing every millisecond, and with these new ways of being exposed to unknown risks. Trying to keep up with what you need to know as a business owner in all aspects of your business, taxes, laws, and staff needs can be overwhelming. On top of this, cyber security is sometimes a new language, mainly foreign to most.

Give us one word that describes you the best.

What makes you excited about Mondays?

We are living in fascinating times here in the UAE. As I mentioned in my goal, I want to share with more people how to be more secure in our business, and with the new laws coming into place in the next few months, I have more and more opportunities to share with you how to do this. Every Monday, I now start my week with more ways to share this and help people in their business at any level.

What do you value most about your culture and vision?

Our culture is diverse and inclusive, which allows for innovation, freedom of expression, and openness to exploring new possibilities. Our values are based upon fair equality and equity for all. It is quite well-known that people who work in cyber security, in most cases, are more technical. As such, we encourage our teams to work in ways that suit them and allow their creativity in this space. This helps us stay on top of changes in this space to share with our clients.

Tell us about a project that forced you to be innovative and creative.

Cyber security is all about innovation and creativity. It’s ever-evolving. As technology develops, so do the risks associated with it.

For example, working in financial services, we encountered someone attempting to change the master code to allow for a competitive advantage in derivatives trading after leaving this particular institutionto join a competitor. We implemented some monitoring tools to detect unauthorised changes to the Master Code.

With some cheeky coding and forensic investigation, we captured the individual’s intention to sabotage our client and profit from the attack. All this without our client suffering any damage (it was all a setup on our side to catch this person in the act). This led that individual to believe that what they had done was working and following through with the attack.

They quickly discovered that they didn’t get away with their hack and were arrested for the act. It shows that random cyber nerds do not just do cyber-attacks in faraway countries. They can be in your own home without your knowledge. And this, unfortunately, is just one of many that I could share.

What are your company’s strategies, and how do they stand unique from your competitors?

It’s the little things that matter to us. The acts one can implement today at low cost and build upon, like policies or systems. When you buy a new phone, you can purchase insurance if anything happens to it. But more often than not, you will also get a case and screen protector to protect your phone from accidental damage caused by you and your everyday use.

Well, protecting your business from cyberattacks is similar. You need to plan for the (unfortunately) inevitable, but you can also use simple tactics to protect your business daily.

How do you see the company changing in two years, and how do you see yourself creating that change?

In this business, anything can happen. We are looking for ways to support climate change and increase cybersecurity awareness. Let’s talk about ‘Off Planet’ data storage! Forget the cloud that is now an ancient past in our world. People are looking for ways to store data safely and securely in the ocean, and next will be outer space. This industry is changing quicker than ever, and I guess so will Cybertree.

Where is your leadership going? What benefits do your clients get from your company in this competitive world?

For me, leadership is about decoding this ever-changing and challenging environment so that you and I can converse about it. It ensures that it is not just those in the know who will be protected, but the average person walking down the street has peace of mind also. With more and more small businesses on the rise, I want them to have a good fighting chance to stay in business and not be crumbled by a cyber attack they didn’t see coming.

What are your company’s services/solutions or products on par with the current industry standards? Tell us something about your upcoming products or services.

Something everyone can access today is my free (insert book or PDF here) videos and podcasts. These are all available on my website. We conduct audits and policy reviews if you want to know more about your business. This way, you can know exactly where your business needs are, what quick changes you can make today, and have a plan for tomorrow.
