Tawazun Industrial Park (TIP) said it has signed a lease agreement with Yellow Door Energy, a leading sustainable energy partner for businesses in the Middle East and Africa, for a 4,382 kW solar park project due for completion by the end of the year.

The project will install more than 7,600 solar panels for roof and carport applications. Once complete, the solar park is expected to generate 7.1 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy in its first year of operation, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by 5,000 metric tons.

Construction and installation will begin in the second quarter of 2023, and the project is expected to be operational by the end of 2023.

The TIP initiative is part of the UAE’s celebration of the “Year of Sustainable Development”, in line with the goals of COP28.

The agreement was signed by TIP Managing Director and CEO Faiz Saleh Al Nahdi and Yellow Door CEO Jeremy Crane at IDEX’s Tawazun Council Chalet in the presence of several senior officials from both parties.

Shareef Hashim Al Hashmi, CEO of Tawazun Council and Chairman of TIP, noted that sustainable development is fundamental to the strategy and operations of the council and the park.

“The initiatives taken by TIP to expand the use of renewable energy demonstrate our commitment to support the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 strategic plan, and our desire to strike a balance between industrial and technological progress and sustainable development,” he noted.

Al Nahdi said: “As the premier defense and security campus in the region, we take security in all aspects seriously and energy security is an integral part of our ethos. The 4.4 MW solar lease contract with Yellow Door Energy will allow us to To be able to secure our energy supply with a clean and reliable source of electricity, reduce our electricity bills and contribute to the National Clean Energy Strategy 2050.”

He noted that the factory project is a new milestone in the park’s sustainable development strategy, promoting environmental protection and reducing carbon emissions.

“Yellow Door Energy is proud to partner with Tawazun Industrial Park (TIP) on this solar lease, in time to celebrate the Year of Sustainability and contribute to the goals of COP28,” said Crane.

“Yellow Door Energy was established in the UAE and today we are reaffirming our commitment to the country by signing a solar lease in the capital. This is our first project in Abu Dhabi and we look forward to making it affordable for more businesses in the UAE , reliable and sustainable energy for many years to come,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
