Exclusive: Los Angeles-based sales and distribution company 33 levels of entertainment Acquired US rights to Canadian-Salvadorian director Patricia Chica’s directorial debut montreal girl.
Newcomer Hakim Brahimi plays Ramy, A conservative young man embarks on a journey of self-discovery as he navigates Montreal’s free-spirited subculture in search of love and enlightenment.
montreal girl Produced by Bahija Essoussi and Samuel Gagnon of Objectif 9 in association with Patricia Chica’s production company, Flirt Films. Chica also co-wrote the screenplay with American writer-director Kamal John Iskander.
The film’s deal was negotiated by Canadian distributor and executive producer Paul Cadieux. Film Options International Andreas Olavarria, President and CEO of Level 33 Entertainment.
“Patricia Chica’s distinctive voice seamlessly conveys emotion and entertainment value in her independent feature film debut. Level 33 is honored to have been commissioned to introduce this inspiring film to American audiences,” said Olavarria.
The film premiered last August at the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose and won Best Feature Film as the closing night film at the Los Angeles International Film Festival in November.

This film was made with funding from Telefilm Canada, Sodick and the Harold Greenberg Fund and state and territory tax credits.
Executive producers Paul Cadieux and Maryse Rouillard are investors through their distribution company, Filmoption International.
The film also benefited from support from TIFF Filmmaker Lab, US + Canada In Progress, through an award from ORKA Studio in Poland, which enabled the production to complete its VFX and title animation, as well as CFC/Slaight Family Canadian Music Fund, Art Chic and Flirty Films .
