Newcastle: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s comments about “no cap at Newcastle” have drawn a cautious response from his Manchester United opponent Eddie Howe, who says the German needs to be “careful” of the sarcasm.

Ahead of the Manchester City game at the weekend, Klopp said: “There are three clubs in world football (Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Newcastle) that can do whatever they want financially. While he’s not often involved in these things, Howe has set out to clarify Ashworth’s words and the realities of life in St James’ Park.
He said: “It’s difficult because it can be used in the wrong way. What Dan (Ashworth) meant in his comments was that there is no upper limit to our long-term ambitions.
“We have big plans, we want to be ambitious, but we’re struggling and there’s a ceiling to the reality of working with it because of all the things I’ve been sitting here every week explaining: financial fair play, we’re still a A renovated training ground. We’re not living the kind of life we’re discussing; we’re living in a very different reality.
“Our payroll is very controlled. We’re trying to do things in a very stable and controlled way. While we spend money on players, there’s no luxury and we’re not out of sync with the rest of the Premier League.

While a lack of commercial revenue and European football will undoubtedly hinder United in the short term, Howe agrees the club will face challenges in the future.
He said: “We want to be competitive. We don’t want to be seen as a soft touch or we just show up for fun. We want to show up and win.
“To do that, you can’t just look at the team and you can’t have too much respect for them. You just have to play the game, you have to play the game hard and fairly. That’s what we’ve tried to do in every game this season. , so we will continue with this approach and approach.

But while United’s feet may be on the ground, some of their opponents believe the team could crack the Premier League’s top six this season.
