Louvre Abu Dhabi to host exhibition depicting history of Indian filmmaking
January is packed with events in the UAE. The Louvre Abu Dhabi is here to add another star to the Milky Way. The event is expected to come to the venue on January 24th and wrap up on June 4th. The exhibition is titled “Bollywood Superstars: Short Stories from Indian Cinema”.
One can clearly notice the depth and variety of Indian filmmaking over the years. The industry has been experimenting with image-making for more than a century. The organizing team included Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac and France Muséums.
What artists and artwork to expect here?
The exhibition will highlight the rich history of Indian cinema through more than 80 artworks, including pictures, textiles, graphic art, costumes and more than 30 film clips.
Works of art from Louvre Abu Dhabi, Jacques Chirac Museum on Quai Branly, Army Museum, National Museum of East Asian Art at Guimet, al-Sabah Collection, Raja Ravi Varma Heritage Foundation, Priya Paul Collection will also be featured.
Visitors will learn more about the global popularity of Bollywood and gain a greater appreciation for the diversity of Indian cinema. Comprehensive exhibits cover every aspect of Indian film history, from foreplay, dance and narrative, to religious and mythological influences, and the emergence of Bollywood celebrities.
Witnessing this unique exhibition at the Louvre Abu Dhabi is completely free. You just need to buy a ticket to the center. Children can enter the museum for free.
