Abu Dhabi-based M42 has rolled out Ossi, an AI platform designed to take some of the paperwork out of clinical visits and give healthcare teams more time with patients. M42 announced the launch on 21 October at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit.
The platform is now active at seven M42 facilities in the UAE and Bahrain, the company said. UAE locations include Healthpoint, HealthPlus, Mubadala Health Dubai, Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital and Imperial College London Diabetes Centre in Abu Dhabi; the rollout also includes Amana facilities in the UAE and Bahrain.
What Ossi does
Ossi is built as a set of AI tools that support different parts of a clinician’s workflow. Its ambient scribe can transcribe a consultation and prepare draft notes for the clinician to review. A health record tool can bring together relevant patient information, while a clinical Q&A tool helps staff find information and prepare patient-friendly explanations. Another tool suggests medical codes based on notes for the appropriate teams to check.
M42 says Ossi runs on its own platform architecture with Microsoft Azure AI infrastructure. It is designed to work with existing electronic medical record systems and can handle multiple languages. The company also says the platform follows regional data-governance requirements, including those in the UAE.
Keeping clinicians in the loop
The launch puts AI into a familiar but time-consuming part of healthcare: recording and organising information after a consultation. The system is intended to assist clinical teams, with clinicians reviewing draft notes and staff checking suggested codes. M42 has not published figures on how much time the platform has saved or how it has affected patient outcomes.
For patients, the practical test will be whether less time spent on screens leads to more attention during appointments, while care decisions remain with the clinical team. Ossi’s rollout is underway; its longer-term impact will depend on how well the tools fit into day-to-day practice.
