The South Arkansas Arts Center has announced that the box office is open for its summer music extravaganza, “Mamma Mia!”
Sponsored by Murphy USA, the show ends July 14-17 and July 20-24 at 7:30pm, except Sundays at 2:30pm
SAAC is welcoming the summer music season with an opening night champagne reception at 7pm and kicks off at 7.30pm. SAAC Executive Director Laura Allen said: “I can’t wait to have all our dance queens back in the auditorium at SAAC! ‘Mamma Mia!’ The show. What better way to celebrate than with a champagne reception?”
In this real jukebox musical, ABBA’s hits are used to tell the hilarious story of a young woman’s search for her biological father. This sunny and interesting story unfolds in a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter takes three men from her mother’s past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago in order to find out her father’s identity.
“Mamma Mia!” has music and lyrics written by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, as well as some collaborations with Stig Anderson. Written by Catherine Johnson, the concept was originally conceived by Judy Cramer. “Mamma Mia!” presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International. All authorized performance materials are also provided by MTI.
Mamma Mia is $10 for students, $20 for SAAC members, and $30 for the public and opening night. Purchase tickets online, in person at a SAAC office or by calling 870-862-5474 to reserve. For more information on musicals, please call the office or visit the website: www.saac-arts.org. SAAC is located at 110 East Fifth Street in El Dorado.
