Marriott International announced today that it has signed an agreement with Grimit to bring the Ritz-Carlton brand to Italy.
With a major renovation of Bellagio’s former Grande Bretagne hotel, the brand will bring its legendary service and elegant aesthetic to Lake Como, one of Italy’s most coveted destinations.
Expected to open in 2026, the spectacular oceanfront hotel will offer 59 rooms and 46 suites, including two Ritz-Carlton suites with beautiful lake views and luxurious furnishings.
Integrated resort facilities are expected to include a destination spa with indoor swimming pool, casual and fine dining restaurants, and state-of-the-art meeting and event facilities. The extensive parks and gardens will reflect the typical landscape of the country’s Lombardy region and are expected to feature meditation gardens, historic walks, a large outdoor swimming pool and a private boat dock for easy access to other famous destinations on the lake.

Abandoned at the end of the last century, the property has since been acquired by the Galbusera family, with a clear vision and passion to restore the former grand hotel’s prestige through an extensive restoration and extension project.
Covering 16,500 square meters, the revival plan, which will become the most prestigious hotel development in the Lake Como area in recent years, will involve a comprehensive conservative restoration and reimagining of the building, while respecting the building’s historic significance with utmost respect.
