Marriott to open luxury safari lodge in Serengeti, Tanzania

Marriott International announced today that it has signed an agreement with Delaware Investments Ltd. to open the first JW Marriott luxury safari hotel in Serengeti, Tanzania.

Scheduled to open in 2026, the lodge is located in the Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most famous safari destinations, with its endless plains, incredible The Great Migration and Africa’s largest herd. planet.

JW Marriott Serengeti Lodge is expected to offer 30 private suites, including two presidential suites, all of which will benefit from their own pool and deck areas. Marriott said it also plans to offer a wide range of food, beverage and meeting facilities.

JW Marriott Serengeti Lodge is nestled between the Grumeti and Mbalageti Rivers, rich in wildlife and connected to the North and South rivers , while enjoying stunning views of the plains surrounding the hotel. The Serengeti National Park is an important game reserve and wilderness area in sub-Saharan Africa, covering 5,700 square miles. It’s the start of one of Africa’s greatest wildlife spectacles – the Great Migration, in which millions of animals migrate 1,800 miles from the Serengeti into neighboring Masai Mara between June and September. The Serengeti has also seen the “Big Five”, including lions, leopards, buffaloes, rhinos and African elephants.

The Serengeti is located approximately 660 kilometers northwest of Dodoma, Tanzania, on the border with Kenya. The closest and most convenient way to reach the camp is from Grumeti Airport, a 25-minute drive from the camp. International visitors can access the lodge from Kilimanjaro International Airport and take a domestic flight to the airport in the Serengeti, or take the 8-hour drive to enjoy the beauty of the vast savannah and wildlife along the way.
