Mashreq, one of the UAE’s leading financial institutions, has appointed Aziz Ata as its new Global Head of FI (Financial Institutions) and NBFI (Non-Banking Financial Institutions).
Ata’s responsibilities include overseeing Mashreq’s FI and NBFI divisions globally, developing and implementing the division’s business plan, providing senior leadership for key client relationships, and managing regulatory, industry and obligor risk across the portfolio.
Ata is a trusted senior banking executive with a proven track record of delivering consistent revenue growth. He has held various roles at HSBC including Regional Head of Debt Capital Markets for MENA and Regional Head of Debt Financing and Liability Solutions Platform.

Most recently, Ata was Head of Menat’s Financial Institutions Group and Public Sector. During his tenure, Ata led a number of regional firsts in the industry, such as Mena’s first-ever green bond issuance. He holds a Master of Science (MS) in Financial Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Florida.
