MBRGI joins UN high-level forum

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) has joined the UAE delegation participating in the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). The forum, taking place from July 10-19 at the UN headquarters in New York, serves as a central platform for reviewing and advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) worldwide.

Under the theme “Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels,” the forum engages in detailed discussions addressing several SDGs, including Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, Sustainable Cities and Communities, and Partnerships for the Goals.

The MBRGI delegation, led by Dr. Abdulkareem Sultan Alo lama, CEO of MBRGI, along with Dr. Waleed Al Ali, Advisor at MBRGI and Secretary-General of The Digital School, has participated in bilateral meetings with key international institutions such as the World Economic Forum, UNDP, UNEP, UN Women, UNCDF, Gallup, and the Public Policy Lab. These meetings aimed to enhance collaboration, forge strategic partnerships, and facilitate knowledge-sharing in line with MBRGI’s humanitarian and developmental mission and its commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

During the forum, the MBRGI delegation also met with Amna Bizal Almeria, Consul General of the UAE in New York, US Senator Kevin Thomas, and New York Mayor Eric Adams. At an event titled “UAE Partnership for Global Development: Building Towards the 2030 Agenda,” the delegation showcased various MBRGI initiatives and sustainable projects implemented across numerous countries worldwide. These efforts address key humanitarian and developmental challenges, improve education in marginalized communities, combat poverty and disease, promote innovation and entrepreneurship, and foster values of tolerance and coexistence.

Dr. Abdulkareem Sultan Alo lama highlighted MBRGI’s commitment to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and its dedication to aiding underprivileged communities worldwide. He emphasized the opportunity the forum provides to showcase MBRGI’s initiatives and achievements related to poverty alleviation, hunger eradication, healthcare improvement, clean water and sanitation, among other goals.

MBRGI has allocated AED 1.4 billion in 2022 to various projects and initiatives, benefitting 102 million people across 100 countries. These endeavors align with MBRGI’s pillars of Humanitarian Aid and Relief, Healthcare and Disease Control, Spreading Education and Knowledge, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Empowering Communities.

Dr. Waleed Al Ali emphasized MBRGI’s commitment to supporting international efforts in achieving the 17 goals of Sustainable Development, particularly the goal of Quality Education. He highlighted MBRGI’s achievements in education, including the Madrasa platform and The Digital School, and expressed the organization’s commitment to forming effective global partnerships to support education globally and empower communities for a better future.

Established in 2015 under the sponsorship of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, MBRGI brings together over 30 humanitarian, social, and development initiatives and entities. MBRGI focuses on serving vulnerable and disadvantaged communities worldwide and is recognized as the largest entity of its kind locally and regionally.
