Mission of Permanent Representatives of the United Nations concludes its visit to the United Arab Emirates

An international delegation composed of more than 10 countries’ permanent representatives to the United Nations and their representatives concluded their visit to the UAE.

Members of the delegation were received by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. They also met His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. His Excellency Alm Khairi and His Excellency Omran Senior Assistant Minister of Science and Technology Diplomacy and International Cooperation Sharaf.

The UAE hosted an international delegation, including representatives and their deputies from Belize, Costa Rica, Georgia, Haiti, Israel, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, Thailand and the United States, which came to play a role within the United Nations system A larger role, holding elected seats on the UN Security Council and the UN Human Rights Council.

The delegation also met with His Excellency Ambassador Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations.

His Excellency Ambassador Nusseibeh said: “Our diplomatic work in New York is enhanced by such trips as they create deeper connections and nuanced understandings. As an elected member of the Security Council, which has a global mandate to discuss and address Pressing international concerns, we believe these exchanges lead to better cooperation and progress.”

She added, “The delegation witnessed first-hand the extent of the UAE’s commitment to effective and inclusive multilateralism, including preparing to host COP28 next year.”

Against this backdrop, the delegation met with the team overseeing the UAE’s presidency of COP 28.

In addition to a number of media interviews, the UN delegation visited cultural sites and key political and civil society institutions.

The delegation visited the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) in Abu Dhabi, the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Hub 71, a global ecosystem for entrepreneurial innovators and technology start-ups in the UAE. The group also visited the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
